pending. On Friday night, Sept. 6, Mr Hernandez was spotted on US 211 driving a vehicle with its front end smashed in, doors open and sparks flying because it was missing one of its front tires. Deputy JC Welch made the arrest and is continuing the investigation with Deputy Roger Jenkins. Deputy Jenkins covered a hit and run which occurred shortly before Mr. Herndandez’ arrest. A parked vehicle on US 211 in Amissville was side-swiped.
Credit card fraud
Sheriff Sherertz cautions all Rappahannock citizens but especially its senior citizens to be alert for credit card fraud. The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a $2,800 credit card bill on a Target Visa credit card. The woman did not own such a card, but someone got her phone number and social security number, and got a card in her name. The Sheriff warns residents: never give out your date of birth, social security number or phone number to anyone doing solicitations over the phone. Request that they send their information through the mail.
A theft
A Delta compound mitre saw was stolen from a house which was being built on Sperryville Pike near the Mt. Lebanon Church on Sept. 7 or 8. Deputy JC Welch is investigating.
