Earl R. Yancey was recently appointed to the Rappahannock Farmers Home Administration County Committee by John Castles, the agency’s county supervisor serving Culpeper, Fairfax, Greene, Madison, Orange, Prince William, Stafford and Rappahannock counties. Mr. Yancey operates a general livestock farm near Viewtown and is active in agricultural and community activities. He formerly worked with the ASC program in Rappahannock.
Fifteen Rappahannock residents came to give blood at the Red Cross Bloodmobile when it visited the county on Sept. 2. Twelve pints of blood were received. Volunteers helping with the bloodmobile were Mrs. Frank Cary, Miss Annie Cooksey, Mrs. Fredrick Wachtmeister, Rev. Dabney Carr and Mrs. Magdalene Dearing.
The Washington Ladies Auxiliary opened a store in Washington last week, featuring needs for the whole family. It is located over the fire house and all proceeds will benefit the Washington Fire Company and Rescue Squad.
Franciscan earthenware, the Desert Rose pattern in a 16-piece starter set was advertised by C. Roy Jones Jeweler in Culpeper for only $17.95. The design is handpainted on an embossed dinner service then color-locked under a sparkling glaze that keeps it ever bright-as-new, its oven safe; and sturdily resistant to breakage.
