Among the first families of Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville were forefathers of Mrs. C.H. Estes, Mrs. B.M. Miller, C.E. “Ned” Johnson, Mrs. Frances Thornton, Mrs. A. Paul Thompson and Mrs. Thompson’s daughter, Ann Rodes Savage and they were featured in a photo this week. They were among those attending the church homecoming and dinner Sunday. Mrs. Thompson’s husband, Major A. Paul Thompson of Fork Union presented a detailed history of Baptist churches in the county at the Sunday services.
More than 300 civic leaders, public officials and media executives from 18 northern Virginia counties and the cities of Alexandria and Fredericksburg will meet Sept. 15 in Front Royal to launch a $6 million fund drive to build a 4-H educational center five miles south of the town.

Two Washington families, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Reeve and Richard and Jeanie McNear, have welcomed an international exchange student from Denmark into their homes for the academic year, Margarita Cortez Brain of Chile will be staying with the Reeves and Nina Ingemann Blicher of Denmark will be staying with the McNears.
