1,800 seat gym/multipurpose building and parking lot upgrade at RCHS by fall 2003; and new softball/baseball fields and multipurpose fields by spring 2004. The plan also proposed a new band room and vocal music classroom at RCES to relieve pressure on the gymnasium there.
Estimates presented to the School Board in January’ of 2002 for the new facilities included a minimum of $685,000 for the new track and other program items proposed for the spring of 2002, and a price tag of from $3.8 million to $4.6 million for the 22,100-26,700 square foot multipurpose building proposed for RCHS by the fall of 2003.
Mrs. Williams told the Board of Supervisors that she and the School Board felt that the facilities proposed would be of benefit to all County residents—not just school children—and that the plans would best be reviewed and undertaken by the County.
