then delighted by the reports presented at the meeting by Nature Camp participants Billy Rechin and Josh Makela. The students were sponsored by the club, and they enthusiastically described their two week adventure, both studying, among other subjects, herpetology. The camp is owned by the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and is located in Vesuvius, Va.
Ribbons awarded
Celine Siira, Maggie Bracewell, and Sandra Anderson served as hostesses for the meeting. Horticulture blue ribbons were awarded to Carolyn Emerick, Carol Miller, Cindy Hartz, Charlotte Lang, Susan Jones, Jeannie Jarrett, and Janet Eastham.
Carol Miller won two blue ribbons, one for a reflective design and another for a traditional line-mass arrangement entitled "Bold and Beautiful."
Next month's meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1:30 p.m., will feature a program by Holly Green about using water in the landscape entitled "Adding Water to the Garden." Meetings are held at the Washington Fire Hall, and anyone interested in gardening, horticulture, or flower arranging is invited to attend. RSVP to Mary Revercomb, 987-8489, if you would like to come.
