According to the Federal Election Commission and The Center for Responsive Politics’ opensecrets.org website, Eric Cantor has raised $987,606 as of June 30, 2002, compared to Mr. Jones’ $56,659.
Mr. Cantor has not refused PAC contributions, and $361,845 of his total (37 percent) comes from them.
The bulk of Mr. Jones contributions ($49,915 or 88 percent) comes from individuals here in Rappahannock County, as well as from other areas of Virginia, other states,- and the District of Columbia, and Mr. Cantor’s individual contributions ($616,842 or 62 percent of his total) are similarly distributed.
In the weeks before the Nov. 5 elections, information on the candidates’ positions and additional financial data will be presented for voter consideration, and all qualified residents are encouraged to register and to cast their ballots.
