year. Com fields, pastures and gardens were ruined. Wells and springs went dry. Livestock was sacrificed on a falling market. There was a county wide effort to help everyone out so no one went hungry. All through this period farm products were depressed.

Along with other events in the 30s, the nearby Shenandoah National Park was dedicated and opened in July 1936. Homesteads were established for people Who had been moved out of the area taken over by the Park.

1940s-1950s

During this time, William Wood continued on as president of the Rappahannock Bank until 1945, when the fifth president, Robert Warwick Miller, another county farmer, took over.

These two presidents held office during two more wars, World War II (1941-1945) and the Korean War (1950- 1953.)
