character requires doing the right thing, even when it is costly or risky. And that good character in each of us makes the world a better place.
Schools interested in developing and implementing character education curriculum should first begin by defining the universally important ethical values which build good character and then develop ways to teach children to understand them, care about them, and act upon them.
Keep in mind this type of program is also beneficial to adults of any profession. Organizations can implement character education in the workplace to see many immediate beneficial results. Businesses who have implemented character building programs report enhanced morale, increased productivity, reduced staff turnover, and strengthened customer relationships.
It is only through building good character that you can reach your full potential. Good character makes you a better parent, spouse, employee, neighbor, and citizen. As we recall the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, honor the memory of those lost in the attacks, and honor the strength and courage of those surviving the attacks by celebrating American Character Week.
