• Mr. McCarthy provided an update on sludge-related legislation in the State, noting that State Senator Bolling has decided not to support SB618 as drafted, and instead has proposed that a new bill maintain the State’s control over the land application of sludge, but permit localities to test and regulate. County Attorney Peter Luke added that many of the features in Rappahannock County’s draft sludge ordinance have been “undercut by what’s going on in the Committee on the Future of Virginia’s Environment.
• Richie Burke presented Fire Levy bills totaling $128,775.23, and received unanimous approval by the Board for the expenditures. Mr. Burke also noted that Roger Roach is resigning as secretary of the Fire Levy Board and that a decision will be made at their October meeting whether to
