year at
RCHS
Last year ten Shenandoah University Music Students taught halfhour lessons to school students and community members.
They gave lessons on Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horn, Percussion, Tuba, Euphonium and Trombone.
Some of the teachers have graduated and moved on to work or to continue their studies elsewhere. Many will return to RCHS this fall.
DaRon Walton (the great trumpet teacher) will continue his weekly Jazz Workshop, teaching jazz rhythm, scales and improvisation.
In addition to great instrumental preparation, SU teachers helped the students with auditioning skills, concert preparation, and are terrific role models.
Every effort will be made to find instructors for all students who want them.
These afternoon and evening lessons cost $12 for a half-hour and the fee for Jazz Workshop is $5 per student, per week.
All the money is paid directly to the SU teachers.
A limited number of scholarships will be available.
