Schoolhouse just outside of Sperryville, this dinner/charity auction/ wine tasting was a chance for Rappahannock County to have fun while contributing to the sterling cause of creating opportunity for Rappahannock’s children.
According to Headwaters Executive Director Cole Johnson, the event was a smashing success, generating more than 10% in funds for Headwaters over last year.
“I’m so proud of all the volunteers, and everybody who gave,” said Johnson, who jumped up and down with excitement when she found out that the Taste Of Rappahannock “Auction of Golden Opportunities” had generated more than $10,000 for Headwaters. The auction was officiated by Grant Peters, who donated his time and his vocal cords, as he accepted bids standing on a chair over the heads of a large and charitable crowd. The auctioneer was accompanied on saxophone by a member of the RCHS marching band in full regalia. The “Golden Opportunities” Peters peddled included a vacation to Mexico and a “HoneyDo Handyman Package” which winning bidder Ellis Wisner got for $400. Wisner’s prize included a weed trimmer, a garden sprayer, and a 35 pc tool set along with other items designed for home improvement.
