Hazardous Waste

Clean Up Day

On October 20, Rappahannock County will hold Household Hazardous Waste Clean Up Day at the Rappahannock Farm Co-Op on U.S. 211. The day is intended to allow citizens to dispose safely of hazardous chemicals that may be difficult for the average citizen to throw away properly. Common household substances like antifreeze, paint thinner, or pool chemicals are all hazardous to people and the environment if not disposed of correctly,

“People can come to the Coop with that jar of something under the sink that they are afraid to pour down the drain,” said Rappahannock County Administrator John McCarthy.

There will be a pesticide clean up day for commercial farmers at the same time, to allow them to dispose of large quantities of commercial pesticides.
