Poling, who joined the Amissville volunteers in 1938 at age 15; Sarah C. Latham, founder of, and long-time volunteer for the Amissville auxiliary; and retired law enforcement veteran Chuck Moore. Among the Flint Hill volunteers present were Chief Frank Huff Jr., who has served continuously for 43 years — following in the footsteps of his father, Frank Sr., and followed up by his son, 16-yearold junior Flint Hill firefighter Robbie Huff.
As at Sept. 11 remembrances across the U.S., Bible scriptures became foundational; at Reynolds, readings were from Psalm 33: 12-22 and John 15: 12-17.
Reynolds committee members who organized the event were Mr. Bill Welch, president of the Flint Hill VFD; Charlotte Jenkins, deacon and auxiliary member for the Sperryville VFD; Mitzy Mills, Kim O’Heron and Debbie Settle, food committee; David Morrow, Brian Ross and Deacon Dan Ellis, set-up; grill team men and the many members who brought specialty food donations.
