This is a nice picture of a good amateur timber
horse giving his “weekend warrior” the ride
of his life. The gentleman has a rather long leg for race riding and because of his bigger body build, he is not as neat and tidy looking as his professional counterpart would appear. Still, I praise this novice rider for the good points he is demonstrating.
For me, the leg is the most important part of the race rider’s harmony with his mount Good leg position (along with its strength) first provides a secure position throughout the race, both on the flat and overjumps.
In critiquing this rider, what is wrong is his foot could be through the iron a bit more so the long bones of his foot are cm the iron. His weight should go down the back of his leg, causing die heel to be lower than the toe.
