The horse’s chestnut | coat clearly shows the white flecks or ‘birdcatcher spots.’ The variation of the main coat color is due to a fresh clipping job, in the popular trace clip pattern. A trace clip originated in carriage horses, who were clipped under where the traces hit the body to keep a working horse cool on a warm winter’s day.
