the center. ■
Sadie Norman, described as “real quiet,” is one of the most accomplished bakers in the small, regular crowd at the center. When there is a plate of cookies being passed around, many or most of them came from Norman’s oven.
The center, adjacent to the old Washington Schoolhouse on Mount Salem Avenue in Washington, welcomes as clients anyone 60 years or older.
And, as director Darcy Canton points out, any persons of any age with a talent or skill to offer, or plain old time on their hands is welcome to come in to help with all sorts of tasks.
One is welcome to stop in at the center between 10 a.m. And 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or telephone (540) 675 2615.
