Rappahannock (1833), was created from the remaining disputed area east of the Blue Ridge.
Augusta remained the big landholder for only 25 years. Much of this territory went to Canada at the conclusion of the French and Indian War in 1764. Another huge parcel went to the Ohio Territory in 1788. The Civil War finally carved Augusta down to about its present size, when West Virginia was given to all those northerner sympathizers.
In a way, entropy was particularly merciless with the Brits.
