races carded all fall

The trend is “up” for the
National Steeplechase
Association, with purses in excess of $1.8 million spread between 15 days of racing stretching from upstate New York to Columbus, Ga.
The richest of them all, the mighty Breeders’ Cup meet at the Far Hills, N.J. races Oct. 28, offers $600,000 in purses, including the $250,000 Breeders’ Cup hurdle stakes, a $100,000 novice hurdle stakes and the $75,000 New Jersey Hunt Cup timber stakes.
Another $100,000 novice stakes is carded at the Nov. 4 Callaway Gardens meet in Columbus. Both novice races are grade I, as is the $150,000 Colonial Cup which closes out the season Nov. 19 in Camden, S.C.
Among timber leaders is the $50,000 International Gold
