The rider is perfectly balanced in the middle of the horse’s back, his hands center of his shoulders and head up looking straight ahead from directly over the horse’s center of gravity.
The line of his reins runs straight and, if the line is extended, goes to the top of his shoulders. His legs are vice-gripped on, with the weight of his body down the back of his leg and his foot in slightly in front of the girth in good bracing position ‘just in case.’
His seat is dose to the horse’s back but not on the back. His seat is open at the waist so he will not be fooled into landing up the horse’s neck.
