One of Rappahannock County’s most praise-worthy organizations for pre-school children—the Child Care Learning Center (CCLC)—celebrates its 30th [ Anniversary this year with its annual auction and sale I oh Saturday evening, November 10, at the Washington | School.
Proceeds from this fundraiser go to support the only nationally accredited early childhood program in a tencounty area. Recognized repeatedly as one of the top early childhood programs in the state, CCLC is justly proud of its history of service to families in Rappahannock. Auction and sales items for everyone
To whet your appetite for what is in store for you, the gala evening includes not only a sumptuous buffet prepared by Mary Arthur and the very talented Culinary Arts students but two auctions: a silent auction of antiques, rugs, and paintings by well-known local artists and photographers, and a live auction with incredible offerings—including dinner at the Inn at Little Washington and other area restaurants, a week in a fashionable Barbados beach home, overnight stays in the finest Rappahannock B&Bs, and two nights in a cozy Blue Ridge mountaintop guest cottage with evening wine and cheese and breakfast.
The five auction is always a highly-anticipated event. In addition to an elegant dinner at The Inn at Little Washington, there will be a “progressive’' dinner at four of Rappahannock’s best known restaurants (the Flint Hill Public House, Griffin Tavern, Blue Rock Inn, and the Thornton River Grille)—all taken from restaurant to restaurant in a chauffeur-driven limousine.
Guaranteed to be one of the most sought-after items in the live auction will be a vacation of a week’s stay in a beach-side home in Barbados. Jane Livingston and Lisle Carter of Flint Hill have donated the use of their two-story beach home for this fundraiser. Their fashionable home with splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean is on Bathsheba Beach—Barbados most desirable east coast, known for its historic sugar plantations, old churches from colonial times, great estates and botanical gardens, hotels, restaurants and resorts. The beautiful beach is considered a surfer’s paradise.
Other tempting auction items include a “Cajun Dinner” at the home of Col. John Bourgois and dinner for four at the home of Debbie and Jim Donehey near Flint Hill.
Sports enthusiasts will be pleased that there are Redskin tickets as well as tickets for a Wizards game.
