Gas fireplace have become increasingly popular over the last several years. Convenience gives them the edge, as all that’s needed to get those faux flames going is the flip of a switch.
Supremely energy-efficient, they put out twice the heat of wood and can have a room fully heated within minutes.

The only downside to the gas fireplace is that it lacks the realism of the wood-burning fireplace.
If you don't plan on using a fireplace very often, a fireplace isn't your primary heat source, or you can’t get enough of those roasted marshmallows, then perhaps a wood-burning fireplace is for you.
If, on the other hand, a remote control and an automatic timer appeal to your nature, then a gas fireplace is the way to go
