She went to Kentucky and became a broodmare; it seems the good blood in this family runs again.
Bit of Whimsy broke her maiden in her second try, won a grade 3 stakes her third, and a grade 1 in only her sixth race. She is more accomplished at this stage in her career than any horse the family has ever produced, and she’s just getting started.
Somewhere, I know, Highland Mills, who we snidely called The Other One” at first, is smiling, pleased to see that the athletic talent that she never showed herself has reappeared, a generation removed.
To me, the mare producing stakes winners might easily have just been luck, but when the daughters of a mare that’s still owned by the same person start producing stakes winners, well, that says that somebody knows what they’re doing.
