Oct 20: Power Line Awareness Festival
Enjoy five music, speakers, local food and wine, a solar-house tour and a bonfire while learning about the issues surrounding Dominion Virginia Power's proposal to string more 500,000-volt power fines through Rappahannock County. Green vendors are welcome and tailgating is encouraged. The event will be held from 2 p.m. until dark at Jordan River Farm (6 Shiloh Lane at the comer of Jericho Road and North Ffoes Road in Huntty). At dusk, there will be a “Lightwalk" under the Dominion power lines that cross the farm. Participants can bring their own 3-foot fluorescent light bulb, which will illuminate from the stray energy emitted by the fines. Oct. 20: The Charter meeting
The Sons of Confederate Veterans has formed a new camp in Rappahannock County. The Charter presentation meeting is at the Rappahannock Library on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p. m. This meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. The Sons of Confederate Veterans is an organization preserving the history and legacy of Confederate heroes so future generations may understand the motives that galvanized the Southern Cause.
