Wanted: Bloggers
It was only a few years ago, that the
Rappahannock News embraced its own website. It ‘
was pathetic at best for those of you who remember when compared to the high speed dazzling sites that continue to pop up on a consistent basis. Most of our readership didn’t know that it existed.
Not only that, but the mentality of this paper, and most of our papers in the chain, was focused on the print product. Reaching out and touching readers through cyberspace is a path, that most major newspapers have gradually adopted, but many others are just getting on board.
Times have changed.
Certainly not to have- ha active and lively website isn’t the route to take these days as online viewing during the last year has risen substantially throughout the chain of Times Community papers - and stories in The Rappahannock News have gotten more hits than some of our larger siblings to the north.
The first of our papers to get the “new look” is our sister paper in Loudoun - the Loudoun Times-Mirror. Take a minute and click on www.LoudounTimes.com.
There’s a lot to look at.
Of particular note are the bloggers. Loudoun has quite a few and the topics range from movie reviews, gardening, politics and places to eat.
Within a few months, The Rappahannock News, as well as several of our other papers, will come online with a new and improved look and hopefully new and improved interactions between us and our readers.
If you have a topic that you are keen about, are creative enough to come up with a blog name, willing to send us a writing sample and an eye-catching photo of yourself, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll also have to agree to write more than one. In fact, the more the better. You’ll also have to sign an agreement that you won’t use profanity or inappropriate material.
But other than those requirements, you’ll be given relatively free rein and you’ll have your own unique spot on our new site.
