to educate people about the power-line proposal, but music will help deliver that message, Salo said.
“I think the music is going to help get the people to come out and we’ll have the guest speakers to drive the point home to the community that something needs to be done about this thing,” he said. “It’s a great opportunity to get people aware if they don’t already know about it.”
The Phoenix Project, a sixpiece band from Northern Virginia, is also in Saturday’s festival lineup. Project specializes in classic rock from the 1970s and ‘80s. Expect to hear cover songs by the likes of The Beatles, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Clapton.
“It sounds like a good time and a good cause,” said The Phoenix Project’s lead singer and guitarist Denis Desloge.
Blind Owl Band is a fivepiece outfit of seasoned musicians that plays rock and roll, blues and country. The band has been together since 1982. Half their set list is original and the other half is cover songs.
Blind Owl’s guitarist and pianist Dave McNally was contacted by festival organizers to run the sound system on Saturday. He owns Rock Room Recording Studio in Charles Town, W.Va., and will also be filming the festival for a DVD.
