1973, is part of a state effort to foster cooperation between cooperation between local governments. The commission currently serves a handful of towns in the region, and also Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties. Without membership, Town of Washington officials cannot take advantage of the commission’s resources.
Working with Rappahannock County government, RRRC has in the past assisted with a number of projects in Rappahannock, including the the county’s comprehensive plan for future development and the Sperryville sewer system.
