Apple picking
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, all students went apple picking in Gid Brown Hollow. The apples will be used in culinary class. When leaving the hollow, the high school students spotted a black bear cub.

Homecoming
Wakefield Country Day School celebrated homecoming this past weekend. The festivities began on Friday, Oct. 12, with the traditional bonfire hosted by the Key Club and dutifully overseen by volunteers from the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. Indoors the school held a reception for alumni.
On Saturday morning, a troupe of runners showed up for Hie newest addition to the WCDS fall line-up — a 5K run to raise funds for the school’s athletic department.
An array of outdoor activities also brought crowds to the school’s grounds on Saturday. Booths offered a variety of children’s games, assorted foods and attractions such as face painting, a cake walk, a moon bounce, tests of skill and a yard sale. School classes and clubs were given the opportunity to raise funds for their projects. There was even a special magic show, nm by Sperryville second grader Bemie Cieplak, who donated his proceeds to the new science lab initiative. j*‘The afternoon concluded with a soccer match between Wakefield alumni and students. The game ended in a tie. The homecoming dance was held Saturday evening.
