Are you looking for a worthwhile way to spend your extra time? Would you like knowing that what you do helps seniors and other people with special needs attend much-needed health care visits? Please consider the following volunteer opportunity:
The Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board / Area Agency on Aging has been awarded a handicap-accessible van through a Federal Transit Administration grant to assist seniors and persons with special needs. The plan is to have this van available one day per week, in each county the agency serves, with the exception of two days per month for trips to UVA Hospital. The tentative schedule is to have the van available in Culpeper County on Mondays, Fauquier on Tuesdays, Orange on Wednesdays, Rappahannock every other Thursday, and Madison on Fridays.
The UVA Trips will be the additional two Thursdays. The service will be available for any type of health care appointment, to indude crossing county lines within the fivecounty area. If no appointments are scheduled on a given day, senior center participants can use the service for trips to the post office,
