FINDING THE STRENGTH TO GO ON
Many recently widowed women report that they feel stronger and more confident after their losses. Many of the women who expected their lives to fall apart after the deaths of their spouses indicate that they found themselves able to manage hurdles that they once thought they probably could never manage alone. In general, widowed women were more likely thah widowers to say they found themselves more capable after their spouses’ deaths and they were stronger as a result of the experience. Most felt that they were better able to manage tasks and responsibilities and that they had grown in self- confidence.
