Careen gages are a very old and very sweet type of plum. The trees may reach 15 feet in height, and, when established, bear lots of fruit with little care. Most other fruit trees appreciate some priming in winter. The Virginia Cooperative Extension office can help you learn about pruning
Espaliers are a great way to add fruit to a small space. Espaliered trees are pruned to have just a few brandies trained along wires or a wood lathe. Because die sun reaches every branch, espaliers produce tots of fruit far their size.
