“We’re happy to help out,” Walker told the council.

He also touched on membership dues, which would amount to less than $200.

“It’s such a nominal amount to join,” council member Claudia Mitchell said at the meeting.

With council members warmly receiving Walker’s presentation, Mitchell pressed on to the logistics of joining the commission.

“What do we need to do?” she asked.

Walker explained that the council would have to write a letter expressing interest in membership. The member governments would then vote whether to bring the Town of Washington into the commission. The last addition to the membership roster was in 1975, he said.

The council then agreed to write a letter requesting membership. No members dissented.
