With election day less than two weeks away, Democratic candidate Andy Miller leads his Republican opponent John Warner in Rappahannock County in the race for Virginia’s U.S. Senate seat.
In a survey conducted last week by the Rappahannock News, 43 per cent of the county residents polled indicated they favored Miller with 35 per cent in Warner’s camp and 22 per cent undecided.
The News poll also shows incumbent Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson with a comfortable lead over Democratic challenger Lew Fickett in the race for the Seventh District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Robinson won support from 70 per cent of the people polled while Fickett won 15 per cent. Another 15 per cent of those surveyed indicated they were undecided.
The question of whether to allow liquor by the drink to be sold in Rappahannock County split right down the middle. 46.6 per cent said they were in favor of liquor by the drink and 46.6 per cent said they were opposed.
