In other action, Bloomer reported that the state Board of Education had denied Rappahannock’s request for a variance in grievance procedings and the School Board subsequently adopted the state approved grievance procedure minus the allowance for an advisory arbitration panel.
Accordingly, any teacher with a grievance will go first to the school principal, then the superintendent and finally to the School Board for resolution. Any appeal of the Board's decision could then be pursued in the courts. The Board also voted to accept a new lower bid from Environmental Systems in Culpeper for testing of the high school’s sewage treatment system required by the State Water Control Board as a condition for discharge permit issuance.
