Fund Drive
Volunteers in Rap pahannock County will soon begin the fall door-to-dooi march to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Local chairmen for the November fund drive are Mrs. Frank Moffett for Washington, Ms. Martha Atkins for Sperryville and Bill Lynn for Huntly.
Founded by entertainer Danny Thomas 16 years ago, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is devoted to medical research and care of children striken with catastrophic diseases, including leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease and other forms of cancer.
St. Jude’s, the largest childhood cancer research center in the world, is nonsectarian, interracial and completely free of charge to patients. Once a patient is admitted. the hospital provides total medical care and. when needed, also provides transportation and lodging for parent and child.
