PHILADELPHIA, PA - In a major assault on the environmental problems of the Chesapeake Bay, the Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program awarded approximately $9 million in Federal grants to State agencies, citizens groups and research institutions in the Bay area The area in eludes portions of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia
EPA Region III Administrator Jack J. Schramm said that the grants will provide funds to State agencies to provide technical assistance to the Bay program; to citizens organizations to carry out public education and citizen involvement activities; and to research institutions to investigate the major environmental problems plaguing the Chesapeake Bay.
