The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee's fund raiser and reception for Democratic candidates drew about 100 persons on Saturday evening, October 14, at Diana and Lee Bird’s Horse Shoe Hollow Farm outside Washington. Lew Fickett, candidate for the U. S. House of Representatives from the Seventh Congressional District, and Mrs. Doris Miller, wife of Democratic Senatorial candidate Andy Miller, attended as featured guests. They were introduced to the company by County Chairman A. H. Keyser.

Pickett’s remarks focused on his opponent’s poor voting record with respect to senior citizen issues and possible solutions to exhorbitant electric bills.

Mrs. Andy Miller charmed the gathering with a gracious and amusing statement on her husband's behalf. She said his supporters believe that Miller’s record during his long years of public service as Attorney General plus his many local friends will ensure his victory in Rappahannock County in the November 7 election.
