Turning to Miss Mustoe, White maintained that the essence of good foster parenting requires foster parents to love their charges just as they would their own natural children. “They spend their own money because they love them like their o%n,” he said.
Mrs. Johnson responded that it would be hard to find folks who loved children any more than do some of the county’s foster parents. “They’d spend their own money but they don’t have it. They just don’t have it,” she concluded.
The new clothing allowances approved by the Board are $21 per month for foster children under four years; $27 for children between five and 12 years and $31 for children 13 years and older.
In other action, Mrs. Johnson said she was willing to accept reappointment to the Welfare Board for another four year term. Mrs. Buntin indicated she would request the county Supervisors formally to name Mrs. Johnson to the position at J their November meeting. '
