Asked if he thought the federal government should give more support to rural areas which need and can’t afford public sewer and water systems, Miller responded that he has "a very genuine concern that our rural sections are not neglected and receive assistance for their needs.”
He added that an "appropriate level” of such funding would depend on “the overall budget picture."
The Democratic candidate said his first choice in committee assignments would be Foreign Relations. "But it’s unlikely a freshman senator would get that assignment.”
Therefore, he said, he believes he can be of best service to Virginia on the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, the Commerce and Transportation Committee or the Agriculture Committee.
