Park Rangers apprehended six individuals over the last week for violations within Shenandoah National Park. A rash of thefts of camping gear from Matthews Arm campground resulted in the arrests of two area men during the early morning hours of Sunday, October 15. Charged with larceny were Joseph Stoneberger from Bentonville, and Robert Rickard from Rileyville. When arrested they were also found in possession of Park wildlife - for which they will also be tried. Messrs. Stoneberger and Rickard will appear before U.S. Magistrate Glen E. Conrad, in Harrisonburg. John Ford of Baltimore and Curtis Meador, Jr., of Lutherville, Maryland, were charged with hunting in the National Park after being apprehended on October 14 with a dead deer on Skyline Drive.
Two Luray men were found in possession of bows and arrows in the Park on October 16. Charged with this infraction were Charles C. Bradley and Ricky Payne.
