growth on nets and crab pots. In previous years, it took a considerable period of time for nets and crab pots to become fouled with marine growth. However in recent years this fouling of fishing gear has increased to the point where it is necessary to remove and clean fishing nets and crab pots with increasing frequency. There is great hope that the investment of approximately five million dollars annually into Bay research will provide information which will read to the restoration of the Bay to a condition of biologic health which will support increasing catches of valuable sports and market species.
