The Ladies Auxiliary to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department recently presented the Rescue Squad of this organization with a check in the sum of $500. According to Mrs. Ruth Clark. Auxiliary president, the contribution is to be used toward the purchase of an ambulance.
The baked goods and cider sale held during the past weekend was well supported and most successful with more than $340 realized from it. Mrs. Clark also reported a gift of $15 from Mrs. W. C. Campbell of Newport News, formerly from Washington. Tom Lee of Washington donated 25 gallons of cider plus some apples. A special word of thanks is forthcoming to these people, said Mrs. Clark.
She also expressed appreciation to all who contributed generously with time, baked goods, money, or whatever, who are too numerous to name, and to those who attended and purchased articles from their booth.
