new assessments with property owners. The reassessment hearings will be held at the Rappahannock County Courthouse in Washington, Va.
Property owners have 14 business days after the date of the notice to make an appointment to meet with the Board of Assessors. Appeals made after that date will be held for the Board of Equalization to review. The Board of Equalization will receive appeals through Aug. 28, 1998.
Some property owners may prefer to appeal their new assessment by letter. This is perfectly acceptable and each letter will be given the same consideration by the Board of Assessors as does a personal interview.
Didawick and Atkins agree the appeal process will take about three weeks to complete. After the hearings are over, every property appealed to the Board of Assessors will initiate a letter to the owner stating the board’s decision.
