Victorian Hill was

a Virginia favorite

North America’s all-time leading steeplechase earner Victorian Hill officially retired during a ceremony in August at the Saratoga race course in New York.

The 12-year-old gelding, winner of 15 races and $748,370 will lead the post parade for the A.P. Smith wick Memorial Stakes (grade 2). Regular jockey Jeff Teter will be aboard for the special retirement “gallop.” Owned by Bill Lickle and trained during his long career by Janet Elliot, Victorian Hill raced for eight seasons. His racing record reflects his consistency: 54 starts, 15 wins, 10 seconds, eight thirds.
