When Louise was 16, she joined the Amissviile Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, and remained a volunteer for 35 years. She was the treasurer for 14 years and the president for one. Everett is a lifetime member of the Amissviile Volunteer Fire Department, holding the position of Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant.

Mr. Smith retired in 1985 after working 31 years at the Warrenton Training Center. He now works part time at the Marshall Farmers Co-op. Both are members of Amissviile Baptist Church.

In 1969 Everett’s parents sold the farm, keeping out four acres on which they built a new house. It was here Everett and Louise reared their five children. They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. They continue to enjoy a family tradition of having all the family gather for Sunday dinner.

The community has rallied behind Mrs. Smith and prays for her complete recovery so she may enjoy many more years with her family and friends. You may write to her at 3444 Indian Run Road, Amissviile, Va. 20106 or call her at 937-5269.
