Gooch and Mayor Stew Willis discussed Task Group 1 of Town Planner Milton Herd’s draft planning proposal at length and recommended that a data collection survey, the Steering Committee, and the initial planning meetings be contracted.

The council approved the $11,000 expenditure, retaining rights to appointment of individual committee members.

With the establishment of the steering committee, Gooch moved for the disenfranchisement of the future committee, which was also approved.

Architectural Review Board Chairman Skowronski reported that no meeting had been held last month. The next meeting of the ARB will be Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall.

Charles Tompkins, chairman of the Wastewater Survey Committee announced that the joint income and sanitation survey is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 15 and 16.

Representatives of the Southeast Area Regional Community Assistance Project (SEARCAP) and the County Health Department will meet one-on-one with town residents to collect information vital to the future evaluation of the town’s sewage treatment needs.
