“If you care about the town, about the future of the town, (town residents will participate in the process). It’s not going to be glamorous. And if "(the committee) is not as representative of the town, we can call for additional volunteers.”
Willis recapped the first paragraphs of Herd’s draft proposal. He recommended that the town council contract for all of Task Group 1 at roughly $11,000. The task group includes a data collection survey, establishment of the steering committee, and the initial meetings between the consultant and the committee.
The mayor also said that the town council should retain the right to appoint the members of the committee. The motion was approved. Monday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. was set for the first steering committee meeting. It will be held at the town hall.
