A veritable cornucopia of color and excitement, the Virginia fall steeplechasing circuit offers seven more full days of jump racing action in the Commonwealth.
The season kicked off with a Virginia Steeplechase Association-sanctioned pointto-point in Middleburg Sept. 6. The National Steeplechase Association-sanctioned season begins this Saturday, Sept. 20, with the Fairfax Races in Leesburg. Virginia ‘chasing continues in Charlottesville (Sept. 28), Middleburg (Oct. 4 and 5), Leesburg again (Oct. 11), The Plains (Oct. 18) and Montpelier Station (Nov. 1.)
The NSA sanctioned season, that opened Sept. 13 in Chicago, continues with competition from Louisville, Ky., to Geneseo, N.Y., to Camden, S.C. Eighteen meets offer in excess of $1.5 million in purses this fall.
