Foundation and proceeds from a benefit polo match in Potomac, a custom-built horse ambulance was created by veterinarians and professionals at the MDSEMC. The twohorse trailer was built by Merhow Industries of Bristol, Ind.
The ambulance is equipped with a winch that powers a sled, sling and hoist assembly capable of loading an incapacitated horse into the ambulance for critical care and rapid transport. Taller and wider than a stock model trailer, the MDSEMC ambulance also includes extra padding and a special ventilation system.
