The lottery question in the Commonwealth of Virginia reminds me of the fellow who told me during my freshman year in the House of Delegates, “Don’t, confuse me with the facts: my mind is made up.”

Here are the facts:

1. There is no evidence in other states that have lotteries that organized crime will become involved in the operation of a statewide lottery.
