HOW TO MAKE A OFFER
If someone is selling their house, asking, for example, $100,000, and you would pay no more than, say, $80,000 for it, how should you make an offer? By phone? In a face-to-face conversation?
The best way to make your offer is to have your Realtor present it in writing, setting out the specific conditions of your offer, such as how long the offer will remain open, the deadline for delivery of the deed and possession of the house, and making the offer subject to your obtaining suitable financing. There could be any number of other conditions which you might need to include.
The written offer, signed by you, should then be delivered to the seller. A place for the seller to sign his acceptance should also be provided. If he accepts by signing, the written document has then become a legally binding contract, and the seller is obligated to sell for the price and upon the conditions contained in the written offer.
Your real estate professional handles purchase offers every day. He or she can help you make or accept an offer in the best fashion.
